Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.

We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.

Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. Small Streams Fishing Report 7/05/2020

Overview

Most of the small streams have come down to their normal summer flow. Caddis and PMDs are being seen on most of the lower elevation small streams. The high mountain streams are coming into their summer form with terrestrials and attractor dries working. In the evening if your not getting any looks up top don’t be afraid to try a small streamer.

Lower Provo River Fishing Report 7/5/2020

Location

Lower Provo River

Overview

The Lower Provo is still flowing around 570 cfs. Its still a bit high easy wading so be careful out there. Various “Junk Food” flies are still working, and the PMDs have arrived. The hatch should start around 11ish. Try fishing the emerger patterns. The Tube hatch is in full effect during the middle and later part of the day. Be prepared for lots of questions about how’s the fishing is going.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 07/05/2020

 

 

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The Middle Provo has come down to about 500 cfs. Lower down the diversion channels are taking out water Upper midway gage is at 340cfs. There has been sporadic sighting of green drakes in River road South and Bunny farm area. The hatch will continue to move up river and has been later in the day. There has also been sporadic PMDs and caddis. Nymphing is still the most productive method mixing up midges, pmds and caddis. The dry fly bite is on during the active hatch.

Green River Fishing Report 07/01/2020

Location

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview

 The Green is back down to a ~1050 cfs flow below Flaming Gorge Dam, and will be rising by 60 cfs daily until it reaches 1320 cfs July 6th. As the water gets higher the fishing will improve. The Cicadas seem to be tapering off, but the Yellow Sally hatch is going on sunny days which is great for both nymphing and dry fly fishing. The PMDs will be out too, as well as Caddis in the evening.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 06/23/2020

 

 

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

The Middle Provo is flowing at about 640 cfs. Be careful when wading the river. Nymph rigs with a large amount of weight will be the standard for getting flies down to some fish. Worms, Crane fly larvae, sow bugs, will be good choices in addition to the PMD nymphs and Midges. Try to find slower water areas with some depth to locate where the fish are holding. PMDs will come off around Noon and last a couple of hours. Caddis activity is primarily in the morning and evening.
