Our Utah fly fishing reports offer a brief overview of current conditions on our waters. You'll find fishing reports for the main Utah rivers and streams that we guide on and fish regularly. Reports for the Lower Provo, Middle Provo, Weber River, Green River and Small Streams are included.

We write the reports based on our daily experiences on the water and information received from customers. We update the reports as conditions change and our schedule permits. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call at the shop or contact us here. We are always happy to update you with current conditions on many other Utah waters and fisheries in surrounding states as well.

Following are the latest reports in descending order of when they were last updated. As a result, you may see multiple reports on the same destination if we haven't updated one of the other destinations recently. Green River Fishing Report 11/18/2020

Location

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview

The Green is flowing around 960 cfs out of the Flaming Gorge Dam. It is likely that the flow will remain at this level or even lower for the duration of the winter. The fishing is good and getting better. The streamer bite is on, so get ready to throw some big flies. Nymphing should be a good option too. The fish are spawning so we recommend avoiding fishing to redds.

Middle Provo River Fishing Report 11/18/2020

Location

Middle Provo River

Overview

Winter has come, the flow of the Provo has dropped, and the spawn is on. That being said, fishing is pretty good right now. Just watch out for the brown trout spawning beds, stepping on them can interfere with their reproduction. Fishing to trout on redds can interfere too, so we recommend if you see a redd (spawning bed) then move along and fish somewhere else. The midges and baetis (BWOs) are still here and will remain a decent food source for now. As always, sub surface will be the most productive. Try out some of the smaller nymphs in your box, size 22-26. Most days there will be a midday baetis hatch, so nymph your emergers. Midges will be on the menu all day. The dry fly fishing can be pretty technical with these small bugs, so size down your tippet to 6X or 7X and try to fish a longer leader than normal.

Small Streams Fishing Report 10/06/2020

Location

Area Small Streams

Overview

The area small streams are at a low water level. Right now is not really the time to be fishing the small streams. Stick to the tailwaters in the area like the Weber, Provo, or Green. The small streams will be better in the spring and early summer.

Lower Provo River Fishing Report 10/06/2020

Location

Lower Provo River

Overview

The Lower Provo is currently high and off-color. The most productive method will be nymphing. Try using san juan worms, and sow bugs. The streamer bite should be getting better in the next few weeks. Use a sink tip line to get down in the heavy current.

Green River Fishing Report 10/06/2020

Location

Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam

Overview

The Green is flowing around 1440 cfs during the day, and it is being dropped at night to about 1000 cfs. The fishing is good. Nymphing will be the most productive method, but fish are rising on pseudos in the morning, and eating caddis dries and terrestrials in the afternoon/evening. Streamers are fishing too, try a black marabou bugger. As the colder weather sets in the streamer bite should become more consistent.
