Location
Lower Provo River
Overview
The lower has been fishing great this spring, especially with the reduction in weeds. You will run into midges most hours of the day, but as the Blue Wings hatch, you will see the fish turn their attention to feeding on BWO’s. The Blue Wing Olive hatch tends to be very weather dependent, cloud cover will produce a much better hatch. Sow bugs are getting them too so use a sow until you decide to go dry and hunt heads. Dry fly fishing has been better in the afternoons.

Overview
“Winter” has been rolling along and the fishing has been consistent. Midges has been the primary food source and even a couple of buffalo midges have been spotted as well. Mid day has generally been the more productive time to fish, and there has been dry fly opportunities almost every day.. On the rare cloudy days there has been some streamer action especially on the lower part of the middle. For your dry fly and nymph fishing long leaders and 6x or smaller maximizes success.

The Green is at its base flow of about 900cfs. Streamer season is here and going strong. Don’t be afraid to throw big right now either. Cloudy days seem to be more productive than sunny days.
