Location
Middle Provo River
Overview
Winter has come, the flow of the Provo has dropped, and the spawn is on. That being said, fishing is pretty good right now. Just watch out for the brown trout spawning beds, stepping on them can interfere with their reproduction. Fishing to trout on redds can interfere too, so we recommend if you see a redd (spawning bed) then move along and fish somewhere else. The midges and baetis (BWOs) are still here and will remain a decent food source for now. As always, sub surface will be the most productive. Try out some of the smaller nymphs in your box, size 22-26. Most days there will be a midday baetis hatch, so nymph your emergers. Midges will be on the menu all day. The dry fly fishing can be pretty technical with these small bugs, so size down your tippet to 6X or 7X and try to fish a longer leader than normal.
