Overview

Now is a fantastic time to get out on the Lower Provo.  The flow on the Lower Provo is around 280 CFS.  The baetis are hatching and fish and keyed in on them.  Nymphing until the hatch has been quite productive and once the hatch gets going the dry fly fishing can be excellent. Midges are hatching in the morning and the baetis are coming off mid day.  Dry dropper fishing with a larger cluster midge in the morning with a zebra midge dropper can produce some nice fish and then switching to a baetis dry once the hatch gets going to target the rising fish. Lower Provo River Fishing Report 03/25/2018

Location

Lower Provo River

Overview

Late March throughout April is a fantastic time to get out on the Lower.  The flow on the lower Provo is around 200 CFS.  The fishing has been decent and the baetis fishing should turn on any day now.  Nymphing has been the most productive method, but fish are rising occasionally along the edges and soft seams. The midges are hatching and some baetis are coming off mid day.  Sow bugs in small sizes are also working. The tip for the lower is to give the streamers a shot during the low light periods, mornings, evenings, or on overcast days.  For those of you nymphing find a deep slower area and work the water until you find the depth and area with fish then stay there.  The fish are grouped together this time of the year. Expect light strikes and be prepared!
